Jason Lustbader leads NREL's Advanced Vehicles and Charging Infrastructure group. This multi-disciplinary team works to overcome the technical barriers to decarbonizing advanced medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles and address the challenges of scaling the high power charging infrastructure needed to meet those demands. Their research applies engineering data science, modeling, simulation, and experimental methods to advance the state of on-road, off-road, non-road, freight, marine, and aviation technologies. He also serves as the principal investigator for the Advanced Locomotive Technology and Rail Infrastructure Optimization System (ALTRIOS), which seeks to accelerate rail decarbonization through an open-source modeling framework.
