Alexander Schroeder
Group Research Manager III-Systems Engineering
In 2020, Alex Schroeder embarked on his position as manager for the advanced vehicles and charging infrastructure group in NREL’s Center for Integrated Mobility Sciences. This group leads innovative research on commercial vehicle electrification, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and electric vehicle grid integration. In a previous position for the center, he oversaw strategic planning, technology transfer, and partnership development and served as a principal investigator for energy technology, policy, and market analyses. He also spearheaded the development of NREL’s Sustainable Mobility Initiative, which informed the development of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Efficient Mobility Systems Program and Systems and Modeling for Accelerated Research in Transportation (SMART) Mobility Consortium. During his tenure at NREL, he also managed the institutional planning and performance management group, which administers NREL’s overall strategic planning and investments, contract performance assurance, proposal development, and records management.
