Scott Hughes

MSME. Scott leads the structural validation team at NREL’s Flatirons Campus. He has over 20 years of experience in designing experimental structural validation test systems, serving as principle investigator of over 100 validation programs. His background includes mechanical design and analysis of structures and composites. Scott is active in the development of full-scale and component test methods for wind and water energy converters. Scott is a technical expert representing the U.S. on the IEC 61400-23 full-scale structural testing of rotor blades standard.
