In Kurt Bendl's decade-plus tenure at NREL, he has filled several roles, including Linux systems infrastructure administrator, DevOps engineer, networking infrastructure admin, Private Cloud (OpenStack) systems admin, Identity Management architect and administrator, NetWare admin, storage admin, and web applications developer for high-performance computing infrastructure working mostly with Python tools. He currently serves as system owner for Computational Science security operations, working with the NREL Cyber Security team and several others within NREL on the DOE Authorization to Operate (ATO) and security tooling. In addition, other projects include infrastructure logging and Elasticsearch database administration, configuration management tooling, building a new private cloud architecture, and upgrading NREL's Energy Systems Integration Facility's datacenter's network infrastructure. Kurt is currently studying for additional certifications that include cloud infrastructure and cloud security.
