Hyunjun joined NREL in 2022 and is a postdoctoral researcher in the Thermal Energy Science and Technologies Research Group. Hyunjun conducts research projects for ground-source heat pump applications, heating and cooling demand analysis, district geothermal energy systems, data center cooling systems, subsurface characterization, and techno-economic analysis. He previously worked as a research associate and lecturer at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His background is in energy geotechnics, specialized in the physical, hydraulic, and thermal properties of unsaturated soil and subsurface heat and mass transfer.
