Elena's research areas include economic and workforce development for wind and solar power energy. Elena contributes to the wind workforce analysis efforts which seek to understand the needs of industry, educational institutions, and students within the United State in addition to other projects such as PR100 which seeks to estimate the economic impacts of Puerto Rico transitioning their electricity grid to 100% renewables by 2050. She also supports upgrades to the Jobs and Economic Development Impact (JEDI) models.
