Derek Berry is a Senior Engineer at NREL and the Director of the Wind Turbine Technology Area within the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI), a Manufacturing USA Institute. He leads the NREL/IACMI team in the research of innovative composite materials and manufacturing for wind turbine blades and other components.

Previously, he was the NREL Engineering Supervisor at the Wind Technology Testing Center in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was responsible for large-scale wind turbine blade test engineering operations. He also serves as the U.S. delegate to the International Electrotechnical Commission technical committee for Wind Turbine Blade Design and Manufacturing.

Prior to NREL, Derek spent 15 years as a wind blade design, manufacturing, and testing engineer at TPI Composites.  Derek is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy with a degree in aeronautical engineering.
