Christian joined NREL in May 2023 and works in the Residential Buildings Research Group in the Building Technologies and Science Center. Christian’s areas of expertise include measurement and verification (M&V), building performance analysis, building science, data analytics, building energy modeling, techno-economic assessment, sensor and meter installation, and power and performance measurement.

Prior to joining NREL, Christian worked as an energy engineer conducting M&V for utility-sponsored energy efficiency rebate programs in the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. In this role, he analyzed energy and performance data for a wide range of energy efficiency technologies including residential weatherization, commercial HVAC and lighting, industrial equipment and process improvements, and combined heat and power systems. Additionally, he assisted with pilot program monitoring, and the development of state technical reference manuals used for energy savings calculations. This work ensured cost-effective implementation of ratepayer-funded rebate programs in numerous utility service territories across the country.
