Brett Oakleaf has more than 25 years of experience in the energy industry across a broad range of roles (e.g., long-range generation planning; transmission and distribution; natural gas operations). He is a strategic partnership manager for NREL, leading the lab's sustainable aviation initiative and aviation collaborations.

Prior to joining NREL, Oakleaf served as director of business development at Invenergy, where he focused on project management and environmental impacts and permitting, and served as a front-end design engineering consultant. He managed resource planning at Xcel Energy, where he developed long-term resource acquisition plans for several states and oversaw resource selection, contract negotiations, and development/construction interface. His other roles include consulting for Energy & Resource Consulting Group and Navigant Consulting. He was previously a senior lead analyst for the Entergy Corporation.
