Secretary Perry Visits NREL - Text Version
Below is the text version for the video Secretary Perry Visits NREL.
Energy Secretary Rick Perry painted the future of energy today at NREL.
He was greeted by world-renowned researchers and toured state-of-the-art facilities that boost economic growth, foster industry collaboration, and strengthen our nation’s energy security.
“I can’t tell you how excited I am to get to be associated with men and women who really have the potential to change the world on any given day.”
U.S. Senator Cory Gardner, a longtime champion for the Colorado-based laboratory, accompanied the Secretary.
NREL’s experts demonstrated a 3D visualization of a more efficient wind farm of the future, a Department of Defense partnership to ease soldiers’ loads with lightweight, wearable solar power, and advanced hydrogen and fuel cell infrastructure for the next generation of transportation and energy storage.
The Secretary then delivered solar power with a brush stroke using perovskites: NREL’s game-changing, paintable solar cell ink.
He announced plans to expand analysis and research across energy technologies by tripling NREL’s high performance computing capability in partnership with Hewlett Packard Enterprise, along with new projects to support innovative hydrogen and fuel cell technology.
Speaking with energy executives and staff, he praised NREL’s stunning research along with the lab’s extraordinary staff.
“The world is in good hands because of the men and women that are working at our national labs, and this one is one of the most fascinating.”
NREL is #TransformingEnergy.
