News Template

NREL.gov news stories, which may cover corporate or research news, use the news template.

News releases, feature news stories, and program news all use the same news template on NREL.gov. News stories follow a common news structure and require additional information to populate news feeds across the site.

Consider using the news story tool when drafting your NREL.gov news stories. It provides news-writing best practices, content tips to increase readership, and prompts for complementary images and video.

When drafting NREL news stories:

  • Use NREL style first and AP style when needed.
  • Use title case for subheads and no period at the end.
  • Use body copy Droid Serif for all intro, body, conclusion, and footer content. Do not use the Roboto font in the intro paragraph of news stories.
