This is the text version of the Solar Decathlon 2023 Competition Event Recap Video.

>>First student competition winner: We did not, we did not, I really did not see that coming!

>>Second student competition winner: We are all pretty pumped, we all have a lot of energy so even standing here is a little difficult.

>>Third student competition winner: I think I can speak for all of us and say this has been one of the best parts of our school career.

>>Rachel Romero, Solar Decathlon Lead: The Solar Decathlon is preparing the next generation of building science professionals to take on the challenges of the world.

>>Jacey Watson, Architecture Student, Oklahoma State University: The Solar Decathlon is a competition that is pushing forward innovative designs. What’s great about the Solar Decathlon is it offers a bunch of opportunities for other students to see innovative ways for people to have net zero design.

>>Crayton Maurer, Master of Architecture Student, University of Kansas: This project as a whole has definitely influenced me and made me realize this whole world of sustainability and all these new materials and innovative things that are coming out to make this world a better place.

>>Jess Farber, Grand Juror, Legence: It’s a very multidisciplinary, multifaceted approach to do a project. So, to me, for that hands-on learning, for the students to get that experience in college and bring that to their career, is a huge opportunity for them.

>>Molly Denton, Architectural Engineering Student, University of Cincinnati: I got to connect with faculty, students, industry professionals, all kinds of people, that just wanted to help welcome me to the industry.

>>Daron Lyons, Chemical Engineering Student, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga: I would use this opportunity to learn as much as possible as well as to gain experience and network as well.

>>Student competition winner, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay: It gave us immense proud to represent India here in the U.S. We came from very far from India to represent that country and of course it gives us immense pleasure to do that.

>>Elita Wu, Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Science Student, Monash University: It’s been absolutely fabulous over the past year to be able to see what other people are doing but also to ask them questions and learn about who they are as people has been a wonderful experience. And so many of us have connected and hopefully will continue to work together and collaborate in the future.
