Renee Happs
Researcher III-Chemistry
Renee M. Happs is an analytical chemist in the Renewable Resources and Enabling Sciences Center with over 10 years of experience focusing on characterization of biomass and bio-derived chemicals via nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. She has been managing the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Facility at NREL for the last several years enabling colleagues across many disciplines and centers to attain their research goals through the use of NMR spectroscopy.

Quantitative analysis of pyrolysis oil
C6/C5 sugar composition of biomass hydrolysates
Lignin composition including aromatic content and side-chain/bond analysis
Catalytically upgraded lignin-derived oils
