NREL Careers: Leading the Nation to a Clean and Secure Energy Future (Text Version)

This is the text version of the video NREL Careers: Leading the Nation to a Clean and Secure Energy Future.

Narrator: The world we live in is changing fast.

Aspects of our lives that once felt secure are being challenged by a growing number of threats, like natural hazards, geopolitical threats, and cyber adversaries with a willingness to dismantle our critical infrastructure.

Across the world, we've seen a significant uptick in cyber crime. Ransomware and supply chain attacks are just some of the ways cyber adversaries are attempting to put critical services—like energy—at serious risk.

We need to act quick and confront these challenges with ingenuity and determination if we are to protect our energy future and clear the barriers to renewable power that's resilient and secure.

Whether the research involves cyber threat emulation, novel security technology for complex energy systems, site risk analysis, or the development of new cyber-inclusive standards for renewables, NREL's team is working at the leading edge of energy security and resilience for clean energy technologies and highly distributed energy systems.

With a shared mission, dedicated leadership, and cutting-edge facilities and resources, our team is having a direct impact on how energy systems are developed, deployed, operated, and maintained. This is an exhilarating time to contribute to cybersecurity at NREL; our program is growing and our staff is progressing into leadership roles that will shape tomorrow's energy security.

Martin Keller: It's a tremendously exciting time to be part of NREL's cybersecurity team. Our research in this area is still evolving, so engineers and scientists who join us now will significantly impact NREL's current and future work in cybersecurity.

Juan Torres: So, in joining the cyber team at NREL, you're going to be part of shaping the future of cybersecurity in our energy infrastructure. You will be on the leading edge, working with the latest technologies on the latest concepts. We'd be excited to have you here.

Tami Reynolds: The cybersecurity team at NREL is a group of individuals who all want to make the world a better place. Not only do we believe in the work at NREL because we believe in the mission, but we want to make sure that the grid of the future is secure, safe, and as efficient as we possibly can make it.

Narrator: Here, your expertise will help lead the nation toward a clean and secure energy future.

At NREL, we are transforming energy.
