This week, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center made the decision to move the 2020 Industry Growth Forum (IGF) to a virtual format due to concerns about coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Rather than canceling the IGF, NREL’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (IEC) decided to continue in a virtual format in order to advance the global transition to a clean-energy economy.

“We are strongly committed to our mission of connecting cutting-edge startups with the motivated investor community,” said IEC Director Richard Adams. “Now more than ever, these connections between investors, startups, and the broader cleantech ecosystem are critical to drive innovation to market for impact.”

The 2020 IGF will still take place April 29-30; the registration fee has been lowered to $100 for all registrants. We also encourage new registrants to participate in the new format.

Pitches and One-on-Ones to Continue as Planned

The 40 startup companies selected to present will make pitches and receive feedback from a panel of investors via webinar on April 29.

Presenting companies will be judged per the normal IGF process, and the three top-scoring companies will be awarded Best Venture (one) and Outstanding Venture (two) honors.

One-on-one meetings between entrepreneurs and investors will take place on April 30 and will be scheduled through the IGF mobile or desktop application for registered attendees.
