NLR Invites Energy Leaders To Apply for 2026 Executive Energy Leadership Program
The National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR), a U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory formerly known as NREL, is seeking applicants for its 2026 Executive Energy Leadership Program—also called Energy Execs.
The Energy Execs program provides energy industry professionals and community leaders with exclusive, in-depth insights about NLR research and programs so they can better design energy technologies, develop applications, and address challenges within their organizations and companies.
Eligible leaders across the private sector, government, nonprofits, and communities will participate in four multiday sessions held from June through September. Acceptance into the program requires travel to the NLR campus in Golden, Colorado, on the following 2026 dates: June 24–26, July 22–24, Aug. 19–21, and Sept. 16–18.
Program specifics include:
- Briefings by world-renowned researchers and engineers
- Tours of state-of-the-art research laboratories
- Visits to energy installations
- A project due at the end of the program to demonstrate how applicants will apply what they learned.
The Energy Execs program first began in 2007 and has since grown to over 400 participants representing 41 U.S. states, one U.S. territory, and three countries. Twenty participants are selected each year from a competitive pool of more than 100 candidates.
Applications close on Jan. 9, 2026, at 5 p.m. MST, and accepted applicants will be notified in mid-March. To apply online, visit the Energy Execs program website. For more information, email [email protected].
NLR is the U.S. Department of Energy’s primary national laboratory for energy systems research, development, and integration. NLR is managed and operated for the U.S. Department of Energy by a partnership led by MRIGlobal and Battelle.
