Dallas/Fort Worth Airport Partnership

Continuing its close partnership with the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, NREL has supported the launch of Morpheus, offering predictive analytics to achieve energy-efficient, healthy, and comfortable indoor environments.

Dallas/Fort Worth Airport

Morpheus is designed to improve HVAC system operations using digital twin technology, reducing peak power and overall energy consumptions. This work showcases the:

  • Value of digital twin technologies in a complex environment
  • Importance of considering utility demand charge to optimize existing central plant with chilled water thermal storage
  • Application of automatic fault detection and diagnostic for pilot air handling units.

Future partners can leverage the benefits of adopting digital twin technology in complex environments and apply findings from Morpheus to reduce the stresses on grids during peak hours.
