2002–2015 Texas Regional Travel Surveys

From 2002–2015, multiple household travel surveys were conducted across Texas in Abilene, Austin, Bryan-College Station, Corpus Christi, El Paso, Houston/Galveston, Laredo, Midland/Odessa, Rio Grande Valley, San Angelo, San Antonio, Texarkana, Tyler/Longview, and Wichita Falls.

Data Collection Agency

In coordination with the Texas Transportation Institute, the Texas Department of Transportation conducted the surveys.

Methodology

The travel surveys incorporated a global positioning system (GPS), technology-based travel diary component.

Drive Cycle Processing and Filtering

NREL has developed a GPS data filtration routine to filter erroneous data points in individual drive cycles sourced from GPS devices mounted in vehicles. Second-by-second drive cycle data collected from GPS-instrumented vehicles during these surveys have passed through NREL's drive cycle processing and filtering routines.

Survey Records

Survey records include 5,825 households.

More Information

Survey reports are available for the following areas:

Transportation Data

The 14 data sets contain a total of 4,383 vehicles with vehicle GPS results. For details on available data and variable definitions, see the data dictionary.

NREL-generated drive cycle data are also available for these surveys. For details on available data and variable definitions, see the drive cycle data dictionary.
