Hydrogen and fuel cell research at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory contributes to the growing role that advanced technologies play in addressing the nation's energy challenges. Our projects focus on hydrogen production, delivery, and storage; fuel cells; technology validation; safety, codes, and standards; analysis; and manufacturing.
This work supports the NREL Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Technologies Program and contributes to advances across the laboratory—in photovoltaics, bioenergy, transportation, wind, buildings, and basic sciences. We work in partnership with the Department of Energy and other government agencies, industry, communities, universities, and national labs. These partnerships are instrumental in advancing the development and use of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. Learn how to get involved.
