NREL and HyET Hydrogen Develop Manufactured Assembly Technology for Electrochemical Hydrogen Compression

The high pressure associated with HyET's electrochemical hydrogen compression requires top-quality membrane electrode assemblies (MEA), preferably prepared by cost-effective, high-capacity manufacturing. NREL is helping HyET develop processes and quality-inspection methods for MEA manufacturing.

NREL and HyET Hydrogen will develop inks and coatings relevant to high-volume electrode production, and real-time inspection techniques capable of in-line quality control for HyET's electrochemical hydrogen compression MEAs. The project will benefit from NREL's competency and capabilities that support the scale-up to high-volume production of membranes, electrodes, and MEAs for fuel cells and electrochemical generation.
