Once you submit the form, a Collegiate Wind Competition organizer will contact you to schedule a 30-minute call. During this call, we’ll share more information about this opportunity, learn more about how you want to participate, and confirm your involvement.
Ways To Support the Collegiate Wind Competition
As a member of the wind energy industry, you can support the Collegiate Wind Competition in several ways, including but not limited to recruiting, inspiring, mentoring, supporting, and evaluating. The below list offers suggestions for getting involved within those categories. You can:
- Recruit
- Share wind-related internship and entry-level job opportunities suitable for students and recent graduates
- Participate in virtual and in-person networking events throughout the year
- Time commitment: 1–5 hours per school year
- Inspire
- Describe your career trajectory to Collegiate Wind Competition students on conference calls or in educational webinars
- Time commitment: Flexible; 1 hour per engagement
- Mentor
- Guide students as they complete their competition activities throughout the academic year
- Can be a long-term or one-time engagement
- Time commitment: Flexible; likely 12–36 hours per school year
- Support
- Introduce students to industry-leading software that they can use to create their contest deliverables
- Provide funding to help students buy or build equipment, attend the final event, support faculty advisors, and more
- This type of involvement asks for a financial commitment; however, if you prefer to introduce students to software, you can negotiate a time commitment that works for the students' needs and your availability
- Evaluate
- Serve as a competition judge and assess team presentations and submissions
- Time commitment: About 40 hours over approximately 1 month for the final Collegiate Wind Competition event.
