Yi-Hsiang Yu's expertise is in marine energy system design and performance analysis,
hydrodynamics modeling, and application of high performance computing. Since joining
NREL, his work has focused on the research and development of ocean energy technologies.
His experience includes the development of WEC-Sim, a wave-to-wire numerical model
for design and analysis of wave energy conversion systems, wave tank testing for wave
energy converters, practical resource assessment in the United States, cost of energy
analysis for marine energy technologies, and extreme condition modeling, which is
essential for determining the design load for wave energy systems. Yi-Hsiang is currently
serving as the associate editor of the Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering,
an international journal for all aspects of analysis, design, and technology development
in ocean, offshore, arctic, and related fields.
