Dr. Yi-Hsiang Yu's expertise is in marine energy system design and performance analysis, hydrodynamics modeling, and application of high-performance computing. As a member of NREL's Water Power Program, his work has focused on the research and development of ocean energy technologies. His experience includes the development of WEC-Sim, a wave-to-wire numerical model for design and analysis of wave energy conversion systems, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, wave tank testing, extreme condition modeling, which is essential for determining the design load for wave energy systems, practical resource assessment in the United States, and wave powered desalination system.
