Ryan Cryar is a cybersecurity researcher for the Cybersecurity Evaluation and Application group at NREL. His research focuses are on cyber applications in relation to operational technology and industrial control systems within the energy sector. Since joining NREL in 2021, he has supported the development of applications such as the Distributed Energy Resource Cyber Framework and the Distributed Energy Resource Risk Manager. His other efforts include studying methodologies for upgrading and deploying efficient secure infrastructure for electric vehicle charging and networks. Cryar is also working on developing research in quantum resistant cryptography and the possible applications for energy security.
