Matt joined the Thermal Sciences Group at NREL in 2018. His work includes researching, developing, and enhancing models of the thermal fluid systems in parabolic trough and central tower concentrating solar power (CSP) applications. Matt develops and supports open-source model code in the System Advisor Model software and also analyzes market viability of novel or advanced CSP technologies.

Before joining NREL, Matt worked at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, MD where he developed and validated solar irradiance, photovoltaic, and building energy models. Matt graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison where he worked in the Solar Energy Laboratory and wrote his master's thesis on equivalent-circuit photovoltaic performance models.
