Over the last two decades, Dan’s work has centered on the dual challenges of addressing sustainable development and climate change in both the international and domestic arenas.  On the international front, his efforts have focused primarily on strategies for increasing the share of renewable energy in the developing world.  At the domestic level, he has worked to advance the discussion around climate vulnerabilities in the U.S. energy sector and to deploy practical approaches to mitigate those risks.

Dan currently serves as Director for NREL’s Strategic Energy Analysis Center drawing upon eighteen years of experience at NREL in both line and program management roles, including assignments at the Department of Energy and the Department of State.  Prior to joining NREL, Dan worked in the donor community, private sector, the Department of State, the National Economic Council, and the Environmental Protection Agency.  He also served on the U.S. delegation to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change negotiations.  Dan holds a Masters Degree in U.S. Foreign Policy and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.

Outside of work, Dan enjoys exploring the hills of Colorado with his wife and picking bluegrass mandolin.
