Austin joined NREL in 2020 and is a member of the Commercial Buildings Research Group. His work focuses on developing and maintaining existing software platforms built by the lab, as well as providing technical work toward semantic interoperability of building systems. Before NREL, Austin was an energy modeling software engineer at VEIC, where he built a web application for flexible load management built upon EnergyPlusTM and OpenStudio.
