Andy Scholbrock is a field research engineer at NREL since 2011. He specializes in design, setup, and execution of field validation research in the area of wind energy and solar energy.  Andy’s research looks to create data sets from field validation research campaigns in order to use them to validate and improve the models of wind turbines, wind plants, and other aspects of wind energy.  In addition, Andy performs electrical and mechanical engineering analysis to design, build, and deploy instruments in the field to gather meteorological data for wind energy and solar energy research projects.  Furthermore, Andy has done extensive research with wind turbine controls on the CART wind turbines at NREL.  This research has included pitch control experiments, yaw control experiments, feed-forward lidar control experiments, as well as wake characterization experiments
