Dr. Mauger is a scientist in the Electrochemical Engineering and Materials Chemistry Group researching solution processing of materials for fuel cells. His work focuses on understanding the foundational connections between materials properties, dispersion formulation and processing, coating physics, film properties, and device performance. He uses a variety of techniques to characterize materials and devices, including dynamic light scattering, rheology, fuel cell testing, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. He has expertise with many techniques for preparing individual samples (e.g., spin, blade, and spray coating) as well as roll-to-roll coating (e.g., gravure and slot-die) for multi-meter lengths. He also researches the processing of platinum-alloy catalyst materials and their incorporation into fuel cell electrodes. He also has extensive experience researching solution-processed organic photovoltaics using neutron reflectometry, X-ray absorption spectroscopy, ellipsometry, and atomic force microscopy.
