Areas of Expertise

Darren J. Peterson is a research technician for the Biomass Analytical Team (BAT) within the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's (NREL's) National Bioenergy Center (NBC). He is very proficient in performing the various Laboratory Analytical Procedures (LAPs) for numerous clients. He provides analytical support for the engineers in the pilot plant as well as support for the fermentation group. Peterson is also trained in sterile technique and is familiar with the enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation procedure including the required analyses. Furthermore, he developed a high-throughput enzymatic hydrolysis to support high-throughput pretreatment of feedstocks. He is also familiar with instrumentation, especially Agilent 1100/1200 HPLCs.
