Dr. Austin C. Todd joined NREL in 2019 as a data scientist with the Computational Science Center. Dr. Todd’s career started in applied physical oceanography, with a focus on using distributed fluid dynamics models to simulate ocean currents and transport processes. Since 2015 he has held various data scientist positions in Germany and the United States, where he has applied machine learning and analysis approaches toward problems in weather forecasting systems, energy distribution networks, transportation systems, and the Internet of Things. His interests are in applying machine learning methods and analytical approaches to solve problems across NREL’s research landscape.
