Dr. Gerritsen joined NREL in August 2017 as a bioinformatics postdoc after spending three years working at the University of Idaho as a data scientist for the Genomics Resources Core. She works on analyzing and visualizing high-throughput sequencing data from multiple projects involving microbial organisms. Her longterm goal is to integrate these bioinformatics techniques into other areas of research, such as proteomics and metabolomics, in order to develop a greater understanding of the organisms used for renewable energy resources.
