Senator Introduces Legislation to Fund Nebraska Wind for Schools Project

April 8, 2013

Nebraska Senator Ken Haar introduced a bill that would appropriate $50,000 annually in fiscal years 2013-14 and 2014-15 to the University of Nebraska Board of Regents for the Nebraska Wind Applications Center in Lincoln. State Facilitator Dan McGuire and Wind Powering America National Technical Director Ian Baring-Gould testified in favor of the bill. According to McGuire, the committee took no immediate action on it. The U.S. Department of Energy provided initial funding for the Nebraska Wind for Schools Project, which includes the Wind Application Center, and 25 schools in the state now have installed turbines. KOTA News reported on the bill: Funding Sought for Wind Energy Projects in Schools.
