Sen. Udall Experiences View from the Top During Stop at NWTC

April 8, 2013

U.S. Senator Mark Udall and NREL Director Dan Arvizu got an up-close look at the type of technology available at the National Wind Technology Center (NWTC) when they climbed 80m up to the nacelle of a Siemens 2.3 MW, 101-meter diameter wind turbine late last month.

Udall's stop at the wind site was the first of a yearlong tour of energy sites that play an important role in Colorado. A proponent of renewable energy production, Udall has praised the state's diverse energy portfolio and hailed it as an example for the rest of the nation as it tries to move toward energy independence.
