Deadline for R&D Partnerships for Utility-Scale Wind Turbine Testing Extended
November 1, 2007
The U.S. Department of Energy Wind and Hydropower Technologies Program extended the deadline for proposals for partnerships to test utility-scale wind turbines through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA). The new deadline for submitting proposals is November 26, 2007.
The objective of the CRADA is to support industry efforts to improve reliability and performance of the utility-scale (500 kW or larger) commercial wind turbine fleet intended for deployment in the United States. The turbines selected for participation will be erected at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory National Wind Technology Center, south of Boulder, Colorado, for a period of 1 to 3 years. Tests conducted will include power performance, acoustic noise, structural loads, and power quality.
