Kestrel is Now Available for FY23 Allocations

Sept. 14, 2023

Kestrel is now ready for users and is available for use! Accounts have been activated for all FY23 projects that were given a Kestrel allocation. Projects can now begin logging in and checking out the new system. Basic instructions are now available on the User Documentation Site in the Kestrel Getting Started section, with many more details soon to follow as we update the system documentation.

We will have a virtual Kestrel User Onboarding meeting this Thursday, September 14th, from 12:00pm to 1pm (Mountain Time) – we highly recommend that ALL users attend this meeting, or watch the recording afterwards before beginning to use Kestrel. Kestrel has a very different hardware and software environment than Eagle and there is important information that you need to know before you begin.

The meeting details and Teams link have been posted on the HPC Training Calendar, or check with the Computational Sciences Tutorials Teams Channel for details, or to obtain the recording after the meeting.

There will also be weekly HPC Office Hours where the HPC team will be available for drop-in questions, and the Applications Team is planning for a number of Kestrel Tutorials in the coming weeks, so please stay tuned.

If you need help or have any questions, please contact our team at hpc-help@nrel.gov and we'll be happy to assist you.
