NREL Validated Google's Little Box Challenge Entries
Google's Little Box Challenge offered $1 million to the team that built the best kilowatt-scale solar inverter with a power density greater than 50 watts per cubic inch. To help determine the winner, NREL validated the entries at the Energy Systems Integration Facility.
A smaller inverter that is cheaper to produce and install would set the stage for more solar-powered homes and more efficient electrical distribution grids. Even better, it could help bring a reliable source of energy to homes in remote areas in the United States and around the world.
The winning team was Belgium's Red Electrical Devils.
