Building our New Energy Future: Current and Emerging Research Priorities Workshop

The Building our New Energy Future Workshop will be held on Thursday, Mar. 28 (12 p.m. – 5 p.m.) and Friday, Mar. 29, 2019 (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.), at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado.

NREL and ASHRAE are joining forces in this exclusive workshop to survey existing efforts in buildings research. This workshop will examine current, emerging, and needed research priorities essential to enabling a new energy efficient future. Attendees will hear updates on current research and strategies from a diverse gathering of industry experts in building sciences, electric utilities, and manufacturers.

The workshop will identify the frontier of research in several topical areas:

  • Grid Services
  • Energy Storage
  • Energy Efficiency
  • Integration and Interoperability.

The traditional interaction between the built environment and the electric utility industry is changing rapidly. Rather than a one-way flow where utilities produce and transmit electricity that buildings then consume, buildings are now becoming efficient energy consumers that can produce and store power as well.

To register for the workshop, fill out the form below. Advanced sign-up is encouraged to allow us to keep you informed of important updates to the workshop plan. There is no charge to attend the workshop, but attendees will be responsible for their own travel costs.

Please note that we will stop accepting registrations after Mar. 21. Walk-in registrations will not be accepted. For security reasons, if you are not a U.S. Citizen we need you to complete the following form and email it, along with a CV/resume, to Foreign.National@nrel.gov by Feb. 27, 2019.

Details are available in the agenda. For more information, contact Andy Walker at Andy.Walker@nrel.gov.
