NGNGV Leadership and Working Group Meeting

September 2000, Las Vegas, Nevada

Funding partners of the Next Generation Natural Gas Vehicle Program met to further develop the program's vision, implementation, and funding opportunities. The group put together a funding plan for 2001 and laid the groundwork for a marketing plan for the program. Representatives from DOE, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Argonne National Laboratory, Battelle, the California Energy Commission, the South Coast Air Quality Management District, the Gas Technology Institute, and BusPlan participated.

In partnership with industry and various government agencies, NREL's heavy vehicles team is leading the program's effort to develop commercially viable medium- and heavy-duty natural gas vehicles that incorporate advanced alternative fuel technologies. Specifically, the program aims to develop a prototype medium-duty (Class 3-6) compressed natural gas truck as well as a heavy-duty (Class 7-8) liquefied natural gas truck by 2004.
