New York City Transit Hybrid Electric Buses
New York City Transit boasts more than 100 Orion VII diesel hybrid electric buses, which are deployed from several of the agency's depots.
Since 1998 the Fleet Test and Evaluation team has worked with New York City Transit to study the performance of diesel and compressed natural gas hybrid electric buses. The evaluations cover three sets of hybrid electric buses (prototype, Gen. I, and Gen. II) manufactured by Orion Industries, equipped with BAE propulsion systems, and operated by New York City Transit.
The results of these evaluations are featured in the following documents, which are available as Adobe Acrobat PDFs.
