The NREL Fleet Test and Evaluation team evaluated prototype LNG waste transfer trucks operated by Norcal Waste Systems.

The Fleet Test and Evaluation team worked with Norcal Waste Systems to study 12 liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks equipped with prototype Cummins Westport ISX-G engines. The two-year evaluation helped the company prepare for the replacement of 38 diesel refuse trucks with those that run on LNG.

Norcal operates 22 subsidiary disposal and recycling companies around San Francisco and provides waste management services to more than 570,000 residential and 55,000 commercial customers. The company owns, manages, and operates several landfills using practices that ensure environmental protection.

The results of this study are featured in the following documents, which are available as Adobe Acrobat PDFs. Download Adobe Reader.
