In association with NREL's Biofuels team, the Fleet Test and Evaluation team is working with industry partners to evaluate biodiesel performance in transit and delivery vehicles.
Biodiesel is an oxygenated alternative fuel made from vegetable oils, waste cooking oil, or animal fats. Compared to conventional diesel, biodiesel offers significant reductions in particulate matter, carbon monoxide, and hydrocarbon emissions.
Whether used pure (B100) or in blends (B2, B5, or B20) biodiesel reduces petroleum consumption and pollutant emissions. It also helps fleets comply with state and federal mandates and qualify for tax incentives.
The Fleet Test and Evaluation team partnered with the following fleets to test biodiesel in transit and delivery vehicles.
