NREL's technical assistance activities at the state and local levels focus on providing credible and unbiased information to guide decision makers. Currently, the laboratory receives support from the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative to address challenges, inefficiencies, and market barriers to solar technology deployment.
State and local government representatives can request two types of assistance through NREL's Solar Technical Assistance Team (STAT):
Quick Response. This year-round program aims to provide time-sensitive responses or expert testimonies on policy best practices within eight hours.
In-Depth Support. This longer-term technical assistance is designed to support the development of solar markets through 1–10 weeks of collaborative effort.
For examples of technical assistance provided at the state and local levels, see the Technical Assistance Project Map.
