White House Recognizes NREL's Sustainability Efforts

NREL received a 2006 White House Closing the Circle Award Honorable Mention for its Sustainable NREL initiative.

"This acknowledgment of the laboratory's leadership in sustainability is important in meeting our strategic goal of leadership in environmental management and sustainability," said Dan Arvizu, NREL's director.

The Closing Circle Award, from the Office of the Federal Environmental Executive, recognizes outstanding achievements of U.S. federal employees and their facilities for efforts that result in significant contributions to environmental stewardship.
