Outreach

This Web site is one of the primary outreach tools NREL uses to keep staff informed of ongoing Sustainable NREL activities. But it's also used to educate the public regarding programs they can implement in their own home and workplace.

Current activities:

• A Laboratory Technology Stakeholders event on organizational sustainability was held in June 2003. More than 50 leaders from Colorado's business, government, and civic community gathered at NREL to discuss environmental and sustainable management systems for industry and explore regional applications in Colorado.
  
• Sustainability was integrated into NREL policies and procedures, soliciting input from staff members in several research and support areas of the Lab. A formal Sustainability Policy was adopted, including links to 12 related policies and 13 Laboratory-level procedures.
  
• A traveling exhibit on several sustainability issues—computer power management, recycling, water conservation, etc.—was set up in several NREL buildings, providing information on what individual employees can do.
