Research and Business Opportunities

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) offers several mechanisms for collaborating with businesses, industry, academia, and government agencies. NREL considers these partnerships invaluable in commercializing renewable fuels and electricity, their delivery systems, and the efficiency of their end uses.

Subcontracted Research

NREL's Contracts and Business Services Office manages NREL's subcontracted research activities and has an up-to-date list of current solicitations and requests for proposals.

Technology Partnership Agreements

NREL collaborates with industry to develop research partnerships using a variety of agreements, including Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs) and Work for Others (WFO) agreements. NREL's Technology Partnerships team provides information and technical support for both proprietary and nonproprietary research work. NREL does not, however, provide funding assistance to potential research partners under these types of partnerships.

Foreign National Assignment Program

NREL collaborates with international scholars through the Foreign National Assignment Program.
