The following events and meetings are of interest to partners of NREL Photovoltaics (PV) Research and the National Center for Photovoltaics (NCPV).

4th Annual PV (Photovoltaic) Industry Forum

The PV Industry Forum is a platform for the exploding worldwide photovoltaics industry and addresses the topics central to its further development, with emphasis on the area of thin film technology. The main topics of the PV Industry Forum 2008 will be the status and developments of international PV markets, the latest developments in Thin Film and Concentrator Cell Technology, user experience and specific system requirements of large scale photovoltaic power plants and tracking systems and commercial photovoltaic applications in rural electrification: "PV Hybrid Systems" and "Mini-Grid Systems."

North American Solar Challenge 2008

The 2008 North American Solar Challenge (NASC2008) is a competition to design, build, and rayce solar-powered cars in a cross-country event. Teams compete in a 2400 mile rayce from Dallas, Texas to Calgary, Alberta.

Intersolar North America 2008 Exhibition and Conference 

July 15 - 17, 2008

The inaugural Intersolar North America exhibition and conference is being held in conjunction with SEMICON West 2008 in San Francisco, California. It will represent the most comprehensive solar industry exhibition in the United States and focus on photovoltaics, solar thermal technologies and solar architecture. The conference, running concurrently with the exhibition, will address important issues in photovoltaics, such as crystalline silicon, thin film and concentrator technologies and system technologies.  Solar thermal and integrated technologies, financing and investments, materials issues and politics will also be discussed through a series of specific technical workshops, panel discussions and presentations.

World Renewable Energy Congress X and Exposition 2008

The World Renewable Energy Congress (WREC), a major recognised forum for networking between these sectors, addresses these issues through regular meetings and exhibitions, bringing together representatives of all those involved in the supply, distribution, consumption and development of energy sources which are benign, sustainable, accessible and economically viable.

2008 SolWest Renewable Energy Fair 

July 25 - 27, 2008

"Neighbors Powering Community" is the theme of the tenth annual SolWest Renewable Energy Fair July 25-27, 2008 at the Grant County Fairgrounds in John Day, OR. Admission includes over 50 free workshops on both off-grid and grid-intertied renewable energy (RE) and sustainable living topics. A pre-fair workshop will install a grid-intertied solar backup power system. Fifty exhibitors show tools for energy independence and lifestyle self-reliance, including solar, wind and agricultural resources. Keynote speaker Greg Pahl, author of The Citizen-powered Energy Handbook emphasizes renewable resources for neighborhood energy. Alternative vehicle displays highlight efficient transportation technology. Cost is $5 per adult per day, with weekend, youth, and family discounts, volunteers and children under 12 free. Camping is available (free for volunteers).

The Fifth International Conference on Hot-Wire Chemical Vapor Deposition (HWCVD5) 

August 20 - 24, 2008

HWCVD-5 is a forum devoted to the advancement of hot-wire chemical vapor deposition. The alternative names of catalytic CVD (Cat-CVD), initiated CVD (iCVD), and hot-filament CVD (HFCVD) reflect the diversity of fields that have been impacted by this technology. The Cambridge/Boston area offers a multitude of activities to sample and enjoy and is a wonderful location to continue the spirit of international cooperation established at previous HWCVD conferences. The conference will provide numerous opportunities for networking among academic and industrial attendees.
