NREL Employee Appointed to Presidential Panel

Golden, Colo., April 10, 1997 -- Sam Baldwin, international programs director for the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), has been named to the President's Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) as the staff study director for PCAST's Energy Research and Development Panel.
The panel will review current and projected U.S. energy research and development programs and make recommendations on the federal role and appropriate level of support. It also will examine U.S. commitments to international cooperation and incentives for private-sector investments in energy research and development. Areas to be covered include energy efficiency, renewable energy, advanced fossil-fuel technologies, nuclear fission and nuclear fusion.
