NREL Researcher on Assignment in South Africa

Golden, Colo., Oct. 20, 1997 -- A policy analyst with the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is headed to South Africa for eight months of high-level economic research on the South African electricity supply industry.
Principal Analyst Paul Galen in NREL's Center for Energy Analysis and Applications will be a visiting researcher with the South African Minerals and Energy Policy Centre and the National Electricity Regulator of South Africa. His research will directly benefit the South African government and will serve as a prototype policy model that can be applied to other developing countries.
Galen's research will be jointly funded by NREL, DOE's Office of Utility Technologies and the South African National Electricity Regulator.
