Southern California WindSenators Training

Learn about wind energy from the experts and share this knowledge with teachers and students in your state or region. This training is a unique opportunity which combines improving your knowledge about wind energy science and teaching about wind in K-12 classrooms using a wide array of curricula and educational materials.
There are over 91 WindSenators in 26 states. These highly qualified and dedicated educators (k thru college) have impacted thousands of teachers and hundreds of thousands of students in the last four years through teacher workshops, KidWind Challenges, and a variety of engaging regional events.
The five-day training program will provide hands-on instruction about wind energy science and technology using a variety of subjects (physics, technology, biology, earth and environmental science) and includes in-depth training on WindWise and KidWind materials and curricula. There will also be a number of guest speakers from the wind industry, and tours of local wind facilities. Existing WindSenators will be instructors and available to talk about how they have implemented training programs in their states.

Wind Site Assessor Training

The course will work online July 1-28, 2013, and then face-to-face on August 3-4. Participants in this online/hands-on hybrid course will learn how to perform a site assessment for a small wind system. The course will cover how to evaluate a site's wind energy potential, determine wind speeds at proposed heights, make a load profile for a client's energy needs, determine appropriate tower heights, and estimate kWh output for a system based upon wind resources.

Participants will learn how to define wind energy and how residential wind energy systems work. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory will present the 26th Annual Industry Growth Forum December 3-4, 2013
The upcoming 26th Annual Industry Growth Forum will feature presentations from 30 emerging clean energy companies, provocative panels led by thought leaders, one-on-one meetings, and organized networking opportunities. Since the Forum began, it has grown to be the perfect venue for growing companies to prepare, refine, and present their businesses to a wide range of investors. Each year, the best presenters are awarded cash prizes and commercialization services from NREL. This focus on clean energy innovation is having an impact on the industry—since 2003, the presenting prototype, pre-commercial, and expanding cleantech companies who have presented have collectively raised more than $4 billion in growth financing.
